Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a Member of MMC Group achieved another breakthrough when the company received ISO 55001:2014 – ‘Asset Management System for Primary Port Operating Assets’ certification, which ensures best global practice in the management of the operating equipment assets handled by the Port. The ceremony was launched by Md Bahaman Ibrahim, Head of Technical, JPB and accompanied by Mohd Azanuddin Salleh, Managing Director of SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd. A total of 200 employees and port users attended the event at Port Safety Building, Johor Port Berhad.


The achievement of the ISO 55001:2014 certification has catapulted JPB into being the “First Multi-Purpose Port in Malaysia” and the “Second Company in Malaysia after Tenaga Nasional Berhad” to obtain this Certification, thus demonstrating JPB’s determination and dedication towards managing its high value and critical assets such as cranes and other equipment for its business operations.


The ISO Certification provides JPB with a structured and best practice approach to achieve its key objectives; to enhance the management of JPB’s critical assets to achieve JPB’s business objectives and goals, maintaining high availability of JPB’s critical assets for higher productivity, ensure effective cost management and to gauge the implementation of existing maintenance works as compared with the market best practices.

 

The ISO 55001:2014 Certification validates JPB’s advanced Asset Management System and long-standing portfolio of service initiatives. The achievement is a stepping stone for JPB to be the vital gateway to spur the economic developments in Johor.
