Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) together with Johor Bahru Education Department has successfully organised the annual Cricket MSSD Tournament for Johor Bahru students under 12 and under 18 categories at SMK Dato’ Usman Awang, Johor Bahru.


The launching of the tournament was officiated by Tuan Haji Taufik Bin Hamzah, official representative from the Johor Bahru Education Department while PTP was represented by Jaizal Kamar Jalaludin, Head of Human Capital Development and Captain Akashah Md Dom, General Manager of Marine Services.  

The four-day tournament saw participation of 270 players from 10 primary schools and 8 secondary schools around Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru area participated in the tournament.

Amongst the school participated in the Under-12 category were SK Tanjung Adang, SK Nusantara, SK Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar, SK Pendas Laut, SK Tiram Duku, SK Tanjung Adang, SK Sungai Danga, SK Skudai Baru, SK Selesa Jaya, SK Nong Chik and SK Pengkalan Rinting. The Under-18 category on the other hand, was joined by SMK Tg Adang, SMK Dato’ Usman Awang, SMK Gelang Patah, Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar, SMK Medini, SMK Taman Selesa Jaya, SMK Taman Tun Aminah and SMK Dato’ Jaafar.

SMK Tanjung Adang emerged as the tournament champion for Under 18 category and SK Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar won the Under 12 category. Winners of the respective category brought home cash prizes and trophy medals.

PTP 2017 Cricket League came as part of PTP’s long-standing support of the youth segment and enriching the lifestyle of the local community, particularly in the two critical arenas of sports and education. PTP’s long association with the state government agency such as Johor Bahru Education Department has helped to advance the Johor State Government’s aspiration in developing a high quality, local human capital and simultaneously produce more talents in sports while promoting healthy lifestyle amongst school children within Johor Bahru.

PTP is fully committed in elevating the lifestyle of the local community especially around Gelang Patah area through its CSR programmes and social welfare support. With sports-based activity such as cricket tournament, we hope to continuously promote the importance of physical education, fitness awareness and positive lifestyle among the school children.
