Johor Chief Minister YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin made a working visit to Tanjung Piai parliamentary constituency to get an insight about development and progress at that area.
YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin was joined by Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Haji Mohammad, EXCO of Public Works of Rural and Regional Development Johor, Tuan Haji On Jabbar, District Officer of Pontian, Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng, Member of Parliament Tanjung Piai, Tuan Haji Suhaimi Salleh, Member of Johor State Legislative Assembly of Kukup together with other government officials. Mr. Gan Seng Keong, General Manager together with En. Amir Malik Faeiz, Project Director were also present at the event to represent Seaport Worldwide Sdn. Bhd. (SWW) along with other staff in Johor.
During the event, YAB Johor Chief Minister was briefed by SWW on the Tanjung Bin-Gelang Patah road and bridge project. As a Project Proponent, SWW has been given a mandate and responsibility by the Government to ensure that the project is completed within the allocated time and budget.
The bridge and link road connecting Tanjung Bin and Tanjung Pelepas will stimulate the economic growth in Southwest Johor and enhance communication between Pontian and Johor Administrative Center at Iskandar Puteri. The travelling time from Kukup to Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas currently takes one hour and the project is expected to reduce the trip to 15 minutes.
The 7.5km project is partially funded by government and will be handed over to Public Works Department upon completion. The construction of this dual two lane carriageway toll-free is expected to start in September 2017 and complete by August 2020.
The event was attended by 300 villagers including media partners. The programme is part of SWW’s engagement initiatives to strengthen its relationship with all stakeholders including the authorities and the villagers.
