Hershey Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd’s (Senai Airport City) maiden investor held its official opening ceremony of its state-of-the art confectionery manufacturing plant in Senai Airport City Free Industrial Zone Area.
The Hershey Co, North America’s biggest chocolate maker via its holding company in Malaysia, Hershey Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Hershey) invested RM816 million to build its single largest manufacturing plant in Asia. The 700,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Senai Airport City hires approximately 400 skilled employees in various capacities, including management roles.
Hershey’s export and import operations, raw materials and products movement/shipping, cargo duties declaration are supported by Senai Airport City Free Zone Authority, Senai Airport City Services Sdn Bhd (SAC SERVICES). SAC SERVICES is the appointed “Free Zone Authority” to administer the custom clearance processes and also the facilities manager of Senai Airport City Free Zone Area.
The event was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive of Iskandar Region Development Authority (IRDA) representing Johor Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin in the presence of Mr. Subas Visvalingam, Site Director of Hershey Malaysia, Mr. Rick Camacho, VP Chief Supply Chain Officer of The Hershey Co and other representatives from Hershey. Attendees from MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC) and Senai Airport City were YBhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC, YBhg. Datuk Shaharuddin Md Som, Chairman of Senai Airport City, Mr. Gan Seng Keong, General Manager of Group Property, MMC, Ms. Yarlida Yahya, Head of Projects for Senai Airport City along with other representatives from Senai Airport City.
The official opening of Hershey’s manufacturing plant in Senai Airport City Free Zone is a testament to Senai Airport City’s potential as the preferred location for multi-national companies to set up their operations in Iskandar Malaysia. Following this, Senai Airport City is optimistic about attracting more foreign investments to Senai Airport City.
