MMC Participates in Water and

Wastewater Week at the Malaysia Pavilion

in Astana Expo 2017

MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC) participated in the Water and Wastewater Week at the Malaysia Pavilion in Astana Expo 2017, Kazakhstan. Held until 1 September 2017, the Water and Wastewater Week was launched by Dato' Dr. Tan Yew Chong, Deputy Secretary-General (Water and Management), Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Water Malaysia to showcase Malaysia's green technology.


Also present at the launch were Syed Mohamad Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Datuk Loo Took Gee, Deputy Commissioner of the Malaysia Pavilion at EXPO 2017 cum Advisor to the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia and Dato' Sri Ir. Dr. Zulkefle Nordin, Director-General of Sewerage Services Department of Malaysia. MMC was represented by Ir. Chee Weng Loon, Director of Engineering and Construction division and Joceline Lim from Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad.


The Expo was an excellent platform to develop a stronger trade relationship and potential cooperation in the field of green energy between Malaysia and the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as other 114 participating countries in the international event. To date, the Malaysian pavilion has seen more than 400,000 visitors and is one of the top 10 most visited pavilions.


In the last 25 years, Malaysia and Kazakhstan have developed bilateral cooperation in various sectors as well as the establishment of a joint trade and economic committee and business council. Kazakhstan is Malaysia's fourth largest trading partner among the Commonwealth of Independent State countries.
