Johor Port Berhad (JPB) together with Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Members of MMC Group participated in the ASEAN Ports & Shipping Conference from 5 to 7 July 2017 at Sule Shangri La, Yangon, Myanmar. The participation was in collaboration with Johor Port Authority under the Malaysia’s Southern Gateway Banner, to engage with major terminal operators and relevant authorities in the ASEAN region.
The conference was officiated by Mr Ni Aung, the General Manager of Myanmar Port Authority. Also present at the conference was En Razif bin Ahmad, General Manager of Johor Port Authority who presented a paper on “Incorporating Innovations in Port Operations”.
The objectives of the conference and exhibition were to promote our ports especially its developments in Johor to the shipping industry within the ASEAN region. JPB is positioned as a versatile multipurpose terminal that caters for smaller feeder ports within ASEAN while PTP as a major transshipment hub in Malaysia catering for cargoes within ASEAN countries.
More than 300 delegations attended the conference, representing various government agencies, terminal operators, suppliers of Marine ports and services and port users internationally. There were 50 International exhibition booths with international guest speakers sharing the latest updates and developments in the port Industry.
The event was a good platform to explore the current growth of port industry within ASEAN and provided a good networking opportunity to engage with decision makers to attract potential businesses into our gateways.
The next ASEAN Port and Shipping Conference 2018 will be organised in Johor, jointly hosted by Johor Port Authority, PTP and JPB.
