Officiated by YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Chief Minister of Johor, the new Port Industry Training Programme was an initiative to encourage technical and vocational training in order to meet the demand for high-skilled workers.

In line with JPB’s commitment to improve the country’s economy by equipping students with essential employability skills, the new training programme complements the theoretical training received by students in their respective institutions with the practical experience of working in real life situation.

The programme, focused on both technical and vocational trainings, as well as soft skill training which is crucial for port operations and management. Furthermore, the new training programme was also JPB’s own initiative in response to the demands for highly skilled workers. The competency development programme under the port training services include trainings for container and conventional terminal operations, operation of cranes and forklift, as well as trainings on handling of other terminal equipment.

The event created a good networking opportunity between JPB and PELINDO IV to participate in the operation and management of some of the ports under PELINDO IV as well as enhancing feeder service to the Eastern Indonesian Region.
