NEXT NEWS NEXT NEWS Prime Minister Launches the Sixth Pan  Borneo Highway Sabah Package, Kota Kinabalu  Outer Ring Road

Prime Minister YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Hj. Abdul Razak launched the sixth Pan Borneo Highway Sabah package with an estimated cost of RM900 million in Putatan, Sabah. Dubbed the “Kota Kinabalu Outer Ring Road” the package will stretch from Putatan to Inanam, passing through the city of Kota Kinabalu.

Present at the event were YAB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman, Chief Minister of Sabah, YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah and YB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Works Minister among others.

The package six project, featuring over 19km stretch will see the construction and upgrading of roads to a four-lane dual carriageway encompassing seven new bridges, six interchanges and 10 pedestrian overhead bridges.

Upon completion, the road will bring better connectivity to 700,000 residents and reducing traffic congestion at rapidly progressing areas within the city.

Spanning a distance of 1,236 km, the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah project is estimated at RM12.86 billion. Among the packages launched by the Prime Minister prior to this were the Papar-Donggongon package on 24 April 2016 in Papar, the Tawau-Semporna package on 28 May 2016 in Tawau, the Lahad Datu bypass package on 19 December 2016 in Lahad Datu and the Sindumin-Kampung Melalia package on 4 March 2017 in Sipitang.

Borneo Highway PDP Sdn Bhd (BHP) is the Project Delivery Partner appointed by the federal and state government to design, implement, supervise and manage the development and upgrading of the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah project, within the agreed schedule and costs. UEM MMC Joint Venture Sdn Bhd, a 50:50 jointly controlled entity of MMC Corporation Berhad and UEM Group has a 40% stake in BHP.
