 Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a Member of MMC Group launched the first coaching session of the Modern Port Management Programme (MPMP) in Malaysia, organised by JPB’s JP Skills Centre (JPSC). The course was certified by United Nation TrainForTrade, a division of United Nation Economic and Social Council.


The session was attended by participants from Malaysia, Nigeria, Ghana and Indonesia. The course instructors were among accredited instructors from JPSC together with three other instructors from Belgium, Indonesia and Ireland.


The MPMP course consists of eight modules and one dissertation, was developed to support port communities for efficient and competitive port management services to increase trade flows and sustainable economic development.


The eight modules include International Trade and Transport, The Organisation of a Port System, The Functioning of a Port System, Future Challenges of Ports, Methods and Tools of Port Management, Economic and Commercial Management, Administrative and Legal Management and Technical Management and Human Resource development.


The programme was one of JPB’s initiatives to further strengthen working relationship between the local and international ports and improve the country’s economy by equipping essential employability skills.
