On 27 February 2018, YB Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi, Deputy Minister of Transport, visited Tanjung Bruas Port to observe the port’s preparation for the proposed implementation of the Roll on-Roll off (RORO) Melaka ferry service to Dumai, Sumatera, Indonesia.  


YB Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi and other delegates were received by En Shahrull Allam Shah, Director of Tanjung Bruas Port. Also present were Mr Ian James, Group Chief Executive Officer of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd and Datuk Wira Ab Rahaman B Hj Ab Karim, Tanjung Kundur’s Member of Parliament.


Upon arrival, the delegates were given an introduction and briefing on Tanjung Bruas Port's 5-Year Strategic Development Plan by Tanjung Bruas Port management, followed by a port tour. Overall, the Deputy Minister expressed his satisfaction over the progress of Tanjung Bruas Port.


Tanjung Bruas Port will be upgraded to facilitate the vehicle's RORO ferry service between Melaka and Dumai. The first RORO ferry service will be operational later this year between Tanjung Bruas, Melaka and Dumai, Sumatera, Indonesia. The project will further enhance the connectivity as well as economic opportunities between the two countries.
