Northport Celebrates World Earth Day

2018 with 3R Program

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group organised a 3R Program (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) called “Ayuh Kitar Semula” in conjunction with World Earth Day 2018. The program was held in collaboration with DRB-HICOM Environmental Services Sdn Bhd (DHES), a fully owned subsidiary of Alam Flora Sdn Bhd.

The objective of this program is to encourage employees of Northport to be environmentally responsible by choosing to reduce, reuse and recycle. Northport employees participated in the program by collecting recyclables such as paper products, plastics, electrical goods, aluminum and used cooking oil.

A friendly competition was organised to boost participation among TeamNorthport which resulted to an overwhelming support from individuals and divisions/departments throughout the program with more than 7 tonnes of recyclables successfully collected.

Northport’s Finance Division emerged as the winner of the Divisions/Departments category with a total collection of 2.2 tonnes of recyclables. Meanwhile, in the individual category, Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof contributed the highest weight of recyclables totaling 351 kg.

The collected items were sold to DHES and the proceeds, worth RM2,066.00 was included as part of the Company’s “Get Revenue In” (GRI) initiatives.

The World Earth Day is an annual event celebrated every 22 April, worldwide. Various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This Earth Day event is celebrated in more than 193 countries around the world and is coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
