PTP Collaborates With JPB in a

Community Programme for Gelang Patah Students

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Johor Port Berhad (JPB), members of MMC Group, held a community-based CSR programme involving a total of 40 selected secondary school students within the Gelang Patah area.

The programme which consisted separate visits to PTP and JPB, was aimed at providing a chance for the students to experience the activities and procedures involved in day-to-day port operations, first-hand.

The programme started off in PTP where the students were exposed to various port activities via a brief presentation, trivia games as well as a question and answer session with PTP personnel. The students were then taken for a visit to the PTP Crane Simulator and Training Room and later to the PTP Marine Control Centre. Their PTP visit ended with a tour around the terminal and Free Zone area.

During their afternoon visit to JPB, the students were taken on a tour around the port complex to learn and see for themselves the various elements at work. The students were also briefed on Port Emergency Response in an insightful and comprehensive knowledge sharing session by JPB Firefighters Team. The visit enabled the students to make use of their learning in the real working world.

The PTP–JPB Port Tour Programme was part of a joint effort between PTP and JPB corporate social responsibility almanac for 2018. Through this initiative, the students gained greater understanding of the companies and the possible future careers that await in the field of ports and logistics operations. PTP and JPB are continuously pursuing new initiatives and innovations; not only in meeting the industry needs, but also in contributing to the socio-economic development and well-being of the surrounding communities.
