MMC Group Brings Cheer to Children at Paediatric Ward of Sungai Buloh Hospital

MMC Group paid a visit to Sri Mesra Old Folks Home and touched the lives of its residents in more ways than one.

Sri Mesra Old Folks Home, a non-profit organisation located in Ampang Kuala Lumpur, provides shelter to a group of elderly people in the age of 60 to 80 years old. The residents of Sri Mesra Old Folks Home are senior citizens who have been abandoned or separated from their family members and have been left to fend for themselves.

The visit which was part of MMC Prihatin’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, began with a warm up and gentle exercise session led by one of our volunteers.  Following the session, volunteers helped with a gotong royong activity by cleaning up the hall and kitchen as well as the house compound.  The volunteers also brought together with them items for contribution such as groceries, toiletries, detergents, blankets and adult diapers.

By noon, the volunteers had lunch together with the old folks. Some of our volunteers had the opportunity to feed the old folks who were unable to feed themselves.

Our volunteers’ presence has brought much happiness to the senior citizens who are always looking forward for someone to visit and spend time listening to them.

The CSR visit gave the opportunity to the MMC Group’s employees to make a difference in the community whilst instilling in them a sense of gratitude. Even though, a few of the residents did not participate much or might not remember it later, their feelings of happiness and contentment will stay with them. It was a priceless experience to know that such a small act of kindness was felt so deeply by the residents.
