Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB), a member of MMC Group hosted an educational visit for 15 students from Crescendo-HELP International School to Senai Airport Fire Rescue Services (AFRS) Station.

The initiative aimed at giving the exposure to the students on the AFRS operations and insights on the career opportunities available within the aviation industry.

The programme kicked-off with a briefing led by Mr S.Gunasegeran, Head of AFRS. The students were given an overview on the airport’s history as well as AFRS operations and procedures for airport emergency before they were taken for a tour around the station.   During the tour, the students were given the opportunity to hop on the Ultra Large Foam Tender Crash Alpha fire vehicle and learn about its functionalities and related equipment. The vehicle is a powerful machine as it has relatively good acceleration for its big size and weight and has the capability to carry large capacities of water and firefighting foam.  It is also fitted with powerful high-capacity pumps and water/foam cannons.  The tour ended with a live demonstration test for firefighting an aircraft.

SATSSB places strong emphasis on its business operation specifically on the aviation rescue and fire-fighting unit ensuring that the team are well trained for every possibility and the fire safety standards are never compromised. From conducting regular exercises, executing aerodrome emergency plans and responding to emergency needs, SATSSB is poised to handle all emergencies within the airport vicinity.

The visit provided a new learning experience for the students while demonstrating SATSSB’s role as a responsible corporate organisation towards the local community in supporting the growth of educational development.
