Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, held its annual Health, Security, Safety and Environment Day (HSSE Day) at Lumut Power Plant (LPP) on 4 October 2018. The HSSE Day was held with the aim of raising employee awareness on Health, Security, Safety and Environment issues.
The start of the event was marked with a prearranged evacuation drill exercise, where everyone evacuated the building and gathered at the plant’s designated assembly point.
En. Mohd Salehuddin Abu Bakar, Plant Manager of LPP, shared with the audience in his speech that LPP is in the final stage of evaluation for the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Excellence Award, which is a national award conferred to organisations with outstanding workplace health and safety records. En. Mohd Salehuddin also shared that recipients of the awards are expected to be announced soon.
Aside from being in the run for the OSH Excellence Award, LPP also recorded an impressive achievement with the clocking of 435,485 safety manhours without any ‘Lost Time Injuries’ or ‘near miss’ as at 30 September 2018.
During the event, LPP presented En. Azmi Din with ‘The Best HSSE Staff’ while En. Mohamad Rosdi Azim was recognised as ‘The Best HSSE In-House Contract Staff’ based on their outstanding involvement in HSSE practices at the workplace.
