MMC Group believes in empowering the workforce through quality training development and enhancing local talents’ technical skills and knowledge. Over the years, the Group has invested significant resources in building a skilful workforce through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), nurturing talents and honing quality recruits for the industry with real-world experience. Our commitment in building better industries and professional workforce continues at the National Industry Dialogue Programme 2018, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre yesterday.

During the event, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a member of MMC Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education to establish links between the academia and the industry and build more collaborative networking in human capital development and TVET institutions. The event witnessed YB Dr Maszlee Malik, Minister of Education; inking the MoU on behalf of the  Ministry of Education with Mr Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP; signing on behalf of PTP.

This MoU further cements MMC Group’s commitment to enhance and boost TVET education in Malaysia. PTP has already several human capital initiatives in place within their operations like Port Operations Planning Apprentice Programme, Pilot Trainee Programme as well as other MoUs with tertiary education institutions. Further evidence of MMC Group’s commitment in TVET can be found with the other operating companies like Johor Port Skill Centre by Johor Port; Operator Peralatan Kontena Apprenticeship Program by Northport; Simulator Training Centres by Malakoff; and Tunnel Training Academy by MMC-Gamuda; to name a few.

TVET plays a major role in the development of a highly-skilled workforce and this MoU will be the boost needed in providing education and training that is in line with global industry standards.

The second half of the National Industry Dialogue Programme 2018 saw En Mohd Shahar Yope, MMC Group Chief Financial Officer; participating in a panel forum discussing the opportunities and challenges of TVET empowerment in Malaysia. The dialogue session had helped churn out ideas from academicians, government agencies and industry players. The forum was attended by over 300 guests comprising government officials, academic institution representatives, industry representatives as well as members of the media.
