Northport (Malaysia) Berhad (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration with residents of the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) at Bandar Puteri, Klang.

As part of the company’s employee engagement initiatives, Northport volunteers participated in the CSR program with the objective of providing awareness on Autism Spectrum Disorder and showing support for people with autism in the community.

Essential food items were also donated to the home to help them meet their daily needs. The festive atmosphere was felt during the programme with the distribution of mandarin oranges and ‘ang-pow’ to the residents.

NASOM is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) formed in 1987 by a group of concerned parents and professionals, aimed at helping people with autism. Currently, NASOM has established 20 centres nationwide that provide a variety of programmes.

This CSR programme was part of Northport’s initiatives to reach out to the community and reflected the company’s commitment as a responsible corporate organisation. The programme was also held to instill the feeling of togetherness and unity among multi-racial Malaysians in celebrating the festivities of different cultures and religions.
