Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad), a member of MMC Group, unveiled a halal compliant water recycling plant and an upgraded Wastewater Treatment Plant for Ayamas Food Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands) located in Port Klang, Selangor.

The plants’ handover ceremony hosted representatives from MMC Group and QSR Brands namely YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohammad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad; Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, Managing Director of QSR Brands; Adi Wira Abd Razak, Chief Executive Officer Upstream Division, QSR Brands and Adam Saffian Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of AIR Berhad.

The treatment plants are equipped with modern technology to treat effluents into clean, clear and odourless water that meets the ‘air mutlaq’ or pure water standard approved by Selangor Mufti’s office. The plants compliment QSR Brands’ absolute halal assurance to consumers, complying to religious guidelines across the company’s ‘farm-to-fork’ operations. The treated water is recognised as safe and complies with the sharia and halal certification guidelines and is consistent with the published decree by the Selangor Fatwa Committee.

The output from the Wastewater Treatment Plant will be used for non-potable purposes such as floor, toilet and vehicle cleaning as well as in landscaping and gardening.

The fast-track projects were completed within a six-month time frame and enabled QSR Brands to operate more efficiently and sustainably. The projects are aimed at supporting Ayamas’ production expansion in the near future which will allow wastewater treatment of up to 3000m3 in a day - a volume equivalent to the contents of an Olympic-size swimming pool.
