Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group has successfully sealed an agreement with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to develop a comprehensive HSE  training called Port Safety Passport Programme for the port workers.


Under the programme, PTP and NIOSH will collaborate to develop and implement a training programme specially designed as an introductory training module for contractors who are working or going to work in the port industry, especially in PTP.


The signing ceremony was held between Mr Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP and En Ayop Salleh, Executive Director of NIOSH. The event was also witnessed by YB Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of NIOSH and En Mohamed Hazaluddin Hashim, PTP Head of Health, Safety, Security and Environment Division. Also in attendance were Ir. Ahmad Jailani Mansor, Johor State Deputy Director of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, as well as several senior management personnel from both PTP and NIOSH.


PTP Safety Passport Programme aimed at cultivating the safety-first culture and to provide fundamental occupational safety and health training for workers on the hazards and risks present in the port industry prior to their entry into the industry. The programme will provide workers the knowledge and information on OSH legal requirements and also PTP’s Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and expectations.


PTP proactively promotes occupational safety programmes at workplace, conduct safety and health campaigns as well as implement employees’ wellness programmes in order to reduce workplace accidents involving PTP staff and contractors working in PTP area.
