SPT Services Sdn Bhd (SPTS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, recently welcomed the MTT Kuching Dua - the first vessel to call at the Solid Product Terminal Jetty (SPTJ) in Pengerang, Kota Tinggi, Johor.

En Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port and Director of SPTS; welcomed Captain Eduardo Salvador, the Master of the Container Vessel; during a ceremony in SPTJ. Also present during the ceremony were En Dickson Anak Dollah, Director of the Southern Region Marine Department; Mohamed Suffian, General Manager of SPTS; representatives from MTT Shipping Sdn Bhd; PETRONAS Refinery & Petrochemical Corporation Utilities & Facilities (PRPC UF); PETRONAS Chemicals Marketing Labuan; and Pengerang Refining & Petrochemical.

SPTS as the operator of SPJT hosted the container vessel by MTT Shipping on 4 April 2019. The MTT Kuching Dua which measures at a length of 168.8 meters and width of 27.3 meters, has a loading capacity of 1,295 TEUs. The vessel departed from SPJT on 10 April 2019 after the launching ceremony of its first shipment by Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, PETRONAS President and Group CEO.

The SPJT is a tailor-made facility to manage the output by the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC). PETRONAS’ subsidiary PRPC UF has granted the operatorship of the PIC-owned SPTJ to Johor Port,  which included the provision of operating equipment, systems and manpower to manage the operations and maintenance of the terminal. The 25 years concession granted to Johor Port by PETRONAS is a clear sign of the oil and gas giant‘s recognition and confidence in the port’s capability and commitment.
