120 runners were amazed by the opportunity to participate in a unique first ever race at the airport airside area held by Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), a member of MMC Group on 19 October 2019.

The four kilometres race took place at the airside perimeter road towards the north of Runway-16 where participants were able to enjoy a wonderful experience running parallel with the sight of planes taking-off and landing on Senai International Airport’s 3,800 metre runway under the golden sunrise.

The race was flagged-off by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Senai International Airport and Khairul Azhar Mohd Yusoff, Johor State’s Director of Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM).

The participants were from airport community including government agencies, airlines employees, retailers, tenants, cargo agents and Senai International Airport’s employees. The main objectives of this event were to enhance and strengthen the relationship between the airport community and key stakeholders as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports activity.

Representatives from Senai Airport City won both men’s and women’s categories of the race; Jeffrey Anak Budin finished the race in 18:00 minutes while Yarlida Yahya in 27:23 minutes respectively.

The race was part of Senai International Airport’s initiatives to increase the airside safety awareness amongst the airport community while giving an opportunity for both experienced and new runners to participate in an aviation-themed atmosphere run.
