Northport Celebrates Deepavali with Tamil School Students at Pulau Carey

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with Deepavali at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Pulau Carey Selatan. The school is located in a palm oil plantation with only 44 students from underprivileged families.

Aptly themed ‘Ceria Deepavali Bersama Northport’, a group of Northport employees led by G. Ulaganathan, Head of Commercial Division Northport shared the joy of Deepavali celebration with the students and teachers by distributing Deepavali gift hampers. “It was certainly an eye-opening experience to be able to directly interact with the students and help those in need,” said G. Ulaganathan.

Northport will continue to organise such programme with the objectives of expanding its community outreach and nurturing the spirit of charity among its employees. The CSR initiative also provides the opportunity for Northport to share the joy of festivities among the multi-racial community in Malaysia.
