Johor Port and PTP Receive Working

Visit from MITI’s Strategic Trade Secretariat for Feasibility Study to Implement Strategic Trade Act 2010 Programme

Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), members of MMC Group received a working visit from the Strategic Trade Secretariat, a division under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI).


Led by Kok Che Beng, Strategic Trade Controller of Strategic Trade Secretariat, the working visit was also joined by delegates from the Atomic Energy Licensing Board, Royal Malaysia Police, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Johor Port Authority.


With the agenda to have an in-depth understanding of the operating system of container movement management for export, transit and transhipment activities, the delegates were given a comprehensive presentation by Mokri Sabran, Head of Free Zone and Government Liaison of Johor Port and Prakash Thurairasasingam, Head of Commercial Division of PTP. The delegates were then brought for a tour around the ports which include the Container Terminal, Free Zone Area and Custom Inspection Area.


MITI established a Strategic Trade Secretariat on 1 August 2010 to coordinate the implementation of the Strategic Trade Act (STA) 2010. Johor Port and PTP were honored to host the working visit to further assist in the STA implementation. The working visit was also part of the ports’ stakeholder engagement programmes throughout 2020 aims at strengthening bilateral relations with the government agencies.
