The Minister of Transport Malaysia, YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong made an official visit to Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) on 9 July 2020. The visit was part of the Minister’s inaugural working visit programme to Port Klang since his appointment as the Minister of Transport in March 2020.
The Minister, who was accompanied by the ministry’s officials, were welcomed by Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad and Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport along with Datuk Chong Sin Woon, Chairman of Port Klang Authority (PKA), Captain K. Subramaniam, General Manager of PKA and other senior management officers of the Port Klang’s ports and logistics operators at PKA Head Quarters.
During the briefing session held at PKA, the Minister and his delegation were briefed on the organisational operations and performance of the Port Klang’s ports and logistics operators by the respective companies’ representatives. The Minister and his delegation were then taken for a tour around Northport and was briefed on Northport’s operations and facilities by Dato’ Azman.
The official working visit programme to Port Klang ended with a press conference at Port Klang Free Zone, where the Minister announced the incentives and initiatives to assist the shipping and logistics industry players who have been affected by the COVID-
YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, is a Member of Parliament for Ayer Hitam, Johor. He is a qualified Civil Engineer and is an active member in several professional engineers organisations including the Board of Engineers Malaysia, Institution of Engineers Malaysia and Road Engineering Association of Asia & Australasia.
