MAIN EDITOR'S NOTE IN BUSINESS CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY ENGAGEMENTS HIGHLIGHTS

On 13 January 2016, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a Member of MMC Group became the first port in Malaysia to successfully handle more than 18,000 TEUs in a single berthing by a vessel.


The milestone was accomplished when Matz Maersk, one of the vessels on the 2M network service left the port with a record load of 18,034 TEUs. The vessel arrived at PTP from Yantian, China. It then departed for Felixstowe then Bremerhaven, Gdansk, Rotterdam via the Suez Canal before returning to Asia. Efficient planning and execution of container operations and good optimisation of resources were identified as the driver behind the feat.


This latest achievement is a testament to PTP’s commitment in providing the best service and meet both of its customers and stakeholders demand.
