MMC Pembetungan Langat Enters

into Agreement with KeTTHA

Putrajaya, 15 February 2016 - The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) held a signing ceremony with MMC Pembetungan Langat Sdn Bhd (MMC Pembetungan Langat) at KeTTHA office, Putrajaya to build a sewage treatment plant based on the experience and success of Tokyo Metropolitan Sewerage Services in Japan.

Datuk Loo Took Gee, Secretary General of KeTTHA and the Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad, Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh represented KeTTHA and MMC Pembetungan Langat respectively for the signing of the contract agreement. The event was witnessed by the senior management representatives from both parties.

The innovative and modern facility will be equipped with green technology initiatives and public facilities and able to accommodate sewage inflow of 207,000m3/day or 920,000 population equivalent (PE), covering a total of 60.9 sq km catchment area starting from Cheras Batu 11 to Kajang.

This project will also rationalise a total of 164 local sewage treatment plant in Cheras Batu 11, Desa Baiduri, Cheras Jaya, Kajang, Kajang 1 & 3. It will also involve the construction of new sewerage piping networks with approximately 105km, building six (6) new pumping stations and upgrading four (4) existing pumping stations. The project is scheduled to complete in October 2020 and expected to improve the quality of effluent while reducing one of the point sources for the ammonia pollution into the Langat River.
