MAIN EDITOR'S NOTE IN BUSINESS CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY ENGAGEMENTS HIGHLIGHTS

On 31 May 2016, MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC Group), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (QIP), the first industrial park collaborated by the People’s Republic of China and Malaysia in West China.


The MoU was signed by Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad and Mr Gao Pu, Executive Deputy Director-General, China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee, witnessed by YB Dato' Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Second Minister Minister of International Trade and Industry II, YB Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China, Dato’ Sri Muhammad Safian bin Ismail, Secretary General of Pahang State, Datuk Seri Issace, Chief Executive Officer of East Coast Economic Regent Development Council along with three other officials representing the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.


Dato’ Sri Che Khalib shared that “We are honoured to be in partnership with China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park. This signifies our commitment to strengthen and expand our businesses further by exploring various potential opportunities in other regions.”


The collaboration aims to promote clustering of capital, industry and talents, strengthen bilateral cooperation in equipment manufacturing and to facilitate China-ASEAN cooperation in international production capacity in line with the implementation of the “One Belt One Road” initiative proposed by China.


QIP, which is approximately 55sq km, is designed as an integrated modern industrial district for industries, businesses and residence with an international high-tech and low carbon industrial park.
