Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB) was delighted to welcome Thai AirAsia’s first flight, FD510 to Johor Bahru on 1 April 2016.
The Thai AirAsia’s A320 fleet was welcomed with a water salute ceremony by the SATSSB Fire and Rescue Service Team as it touched down at Senai International Airport at 2.10pm.
Hat Yai is the second destination in Thailand after Bangkok and the sixth international route after Bandung, Yogyakarta, Ho Chi Minh and Surabaya offered by AirAsia from Senai International Airport. FD510 arrives Johor Bahru at 2.10pm and FD511 departs for Hat Yai at 2.40pm.
Onsite to receive the maiden flight were SATSSB’s CEO En Md Derick Basir, AirAsia Berhad’s CEO Ms Aireen Omar, Director of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (Johor) Ms Magdlane Tuborng Melai and Director of Tourism Malaysia (Johor) En Edzuar Zar Yob Azari.
Thai Travel Agents and Thailand media representatives were also amongst the inbound passengers on board the first flight.
A short media roundtable session was then held to promote the development and joint effort of SATSSB and AirAsia to further expand the routes connectivity from Senai International Airport which is already AirAsia’s third largest hub in Malaysia.
Today, the AirAsia Group operates a total of 7 domestic routes and 6 international routes into Senai International Airport, represented by three Airlines – AirAsia Berhad, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia.
