On 29 July 2016, Senai Business Aviation Terminal (SBAT) received the United States (U.S.) Secretary of the Army, Eric Fanning who flew in to observe the 'Keris Strike' Exercise; U.S. and Malaysia’s bilateral military exercise held at Kem Ulu Tiram, Johor.
Earlier in July, 362 U.S. Army Special Troops were flown in to Senai International Airport by a chartered Boeing 777 aircraft operated by Omni Air International.
A series of military training flights that took place for the whole month of July saw military aircraft types such as Black Hawks’ Helicopters, Beechcraft’s King Air, and Dornier 28 using Senai International Airport as their take-off and landing base.
The troops were scheduled to depart on the 8 and 9 August to Nagoya, Japan on a Boeing 767.
All ground operations for the military flights and air cargo were handled by Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd’s (SATSSB) Operations team and supported by the government agencies namely the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Customs Department, Immigration Department of Malaysia, American Embassy and the Royal Malaysian Army troops.
