Northport Wins Second Place in

MOT Cup Badminton Championship

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a Member of MMC Group, emerged as runner-up in the Ministry of Transport (MOT) Cup Badminton Championship held on 27 August 2016 at the Sports Arena Sentosa, Kuala Lumpur.

The annual tournament which was organised by the MOT's Sports and Welfare Club, with the objective to strengthen good relationship between Companies and Government agencies under the Ministry, was participated by 18 teams from all over the country.

MMC Group was well represented at this tournament with the participation of teams from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Johor Port Berhad, MMC-Gamuda and Northport who showed great sportsmanship throughout the championship. Teams from the Marine Department Malaysia, Johor Port Authority, Kuantan Port Authority, Penang Port Commission, Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd, Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and the Ministry of Transport were among those participated in the year's tournament.

Perodua was crowned champion in this year's tournament while the third place was shared by the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and the Marine Department Malaysia. YB Dato' Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport was present and displayed good sportsmanship spirit by partnering with Japanese international badminton player, Kenichi Tago to play against this year's champion during the closing ceremony. The tournament was concluded with the presentation of prizes to all winners by the Minister.
