Overall Results

887 participants, 12 contingents, 20 companies – these numbers went down in history as MMC’s largest sporting event.

We have marked our calendars, participants have sacrificed effort and time, and all of MMC waited anxiously in anticipation for the biannual MMC Games - and as expected, it did not disappoint. On 19 and 20 August 2016, the atmosphere of Arena UM, Universiti Malaya, was buzzing with energy and optimism. 887 participants, 12 contingents, 20 companies – these numbers went down in history as MMC’s largest sporting event.

Back for its second year following its introduction in 2014, the MMC Games 2016 saw the involvement of all the MMC Group of Companies participating in various games such as Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Netball, Football and not forgetting Tug of War. March past, Bowling, Carom and Dart were the four new activities introduced this year alongside MMC Idol.

The event was officiated by YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad at the opening ceremony, followed by the colourful and enthusiastic march past competition. With the tagline ‘Get Your Game On’ for this year’s games, it was surely the way to kick off what was to be a memorable MMC Games 2016.

The sporting arena was filled with chants and cheers throughout the two-day event from the audiences giving support to their favourite team. Positive spirit of teamwork and collaboration among the players were evident throughout the event.

The football match was the most anticipated one as the entire field was surrounded by supporters. The positive vibes were contagious as supporters roared and applauded when their team scored a goal. The quality of the match was undeniably high, and many were convinced that their colleagues could have been featured as a player in the movie Ola Bola if they wanted to.

On the lighter side, the first MMC Idol was held during the MMC Games. This exciting new singing competition saw 12 contestants put their vocal chords to the test and battled it out melodiously. The crowd was brimming with excitement for having songstress Nora be the guest judge for MMC Idol while cheering on their fellow colleagues.

When the fun and games came to an end, PTP was crowned as the overall champion, while the second and third place was a tie between Northport & NCB Holdings and Johor Port. The ceremony ended with a prize giving session to all the winners.

The Games is aimed at creating ‘esprit de corps’, which is to integrate management and workforce at all levels, build employees’ confidence, as well as to create a bond between employees within the Group through sports, health, fitness and fun.
