On 24 September 2016, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a Member of MMC Group, organised its annual sports event, 'Northport Futsal Challenge 2016' for its valued customers and business partners. Held at the Frenzy Sports Arena, Shah Alam, this event was organised with the objective of strengthening good relationship between Northport and its strategic stakeholders through a customer relations programme.

24 teams from the shipping and logistics industry participated in this year's edition. A great sportsmanship spirit was displayed by the participating teams throughout the whole day programme. Pacific Selatan Agency Sdn Bhd emerged as this year's champion after outperforming Proton Holdings Berhad in the final match. Meanwhile, Sime Darby Holdings Berhad and Wilhelmsen Ships Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd secured third and fourth position respectively.

Northport's Chief Executive Officer, Encik Azman Shah Mohd Yusof officiated the event by leading Northport's team to play against the participating team managers in an opening futsal match.

Northport annual sports events, namely golf, futsal, bowling, badminton and fishing tournaments, have attracted good participation and encouraging response from customers. Apart from serving as the industry's social gathering platform, the sports events are also organised as a customer appreciation programme for the shipping and logistics industry players.
