From 15 to 20 October 2016, Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Johor Port Berhad (JPB) participated in the Johor Port Week 2016 organised by Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor (LPJ).
The launching ceremony was held on 17 October 2016 at Persada Johor International Convention Centre and it was officiated by YBhg Dato' Abdul Rahim Ramli, Chairman of Johor Port Authority. The opening speech was given by En Muhammad Razif Ahmad, General Manager of Johor Port Authority and among the representatives attended the event includes YBhg Datuk Ruhaizah Mohamed Rashid, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) Ministry of Transport and YBhg Dato’ Abdullah Yusuff Basiron, Secretary of Maritime Division, Ministry of Transport.
At the same time, YBhg Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport also graced the event on the second day of the programme. In his speech, he said the single rail track between Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Johor Port in Pasir Gudang will be upgraded to a double track to boost the efficiency of cargo and logistics transportation between the two busiest ports in the Southern region.
The objective of the programme was to promote various services and facilities offered by ports and logistics companies in Johor.
Johor Port Week 2016 has successfully attracted more than 1,700 attendees throughout the one week programme. Various activities were held including the port visit to PTP and JPB, the Port of Johor Treasure Hunt, Two Days Conference on port and logistics industry and career talk with university students. En Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of JPB and Captain Akashah Md Dom, General Manager of PTP Marine Services Department also participated as speakers during the conference.
