On 6 November 2016, Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn. Bhd (PTP) and Johor Port Berhad (JPB) received a delegation from Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), headed by YBhg Dato’ Ir. Haji Nawawi bin Ahmad, Chairman of KTMB and his delegation. The visit is part of the Chairman’s familiarisation visit on KTMB’s railway connectivity in both port operators.  


The delegation started their visit program at JPB and were welcomed by Mr Ian Brian James, Chief Executive Officer of MMC Ports, En Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of JPB, and other members of JPB Management Team. They were then taken for a briefing on the latest rail development updates in JPB before moving on for a technical visit on JPB’s rail siding area.


Upon arrival at PTP, Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP and PTP Management Team briefed the delegation on the ports progress and development, ended by a visit to PTP Marine Control Centre.


During the Johor Port Week 2016 last October, YB Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport Malaysia had announced that the 71km-long single rail track between Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Johor Port in Pasir Gudang will be upgraded to a double track. This was to optimise both logistics and ridership service connecting the two ports, where the hauliers was encouraged to use cargo train service for goods transportation in an effort to have a seamless logistics.
