Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group collaborated with University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to organise a blood donation programme. It was held at Northport’s CBM Hall to help one of the Northport employees in need of blood supply for a blood transfusion procedure due to health issues, as well as to support UMMC with sufficient and continuous supply of blood at the hospital.

More than 100 employees from various divisions and departments turned up at the programme to donate their blood and to help their fellow colleague. Today, the condition of the ill-health employee has stabilised and is recovering well.

Northport and UMMC have taken all necessary safety measures and imposed strict compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia since the blood donation drive was held during the Recovery Movement Control Order.

Northport has always been supportive of the noble initiatives in the past through annual collaborative blood donation programmes with its customer, Wan Hai Lines, as well as other organisations such as the 40th Regiment of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment. These programmes are part of Northport’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to raise the awareness among its employees, public and local community on the importance of blood donation.
