MMC Board of Directors visited two of MMC’s nation building projects in Langat and Sg. Buloh. The delegation, led by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Shamsul Azhar Abbas, Chairman of MMC Group visited Langat Centralised Sewage Treatment Plant (CSTP) and Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant to see the latest progress in these projects and the completed first phase of MRT SBK Line from Sg. Buloh to Semantan station.


The programme began with a Langat Sewerage project briefing at the site office followed by safety briefing before proceeding with the viewing of the centralised sewage treatment plant construction. The Board of Directors team were later brought to visit the shaft, pipe jacking and manhole construction at Zone 7, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras. Once completed, the project will cater to 920,000 Population Equivalent (PE).


Upon arrival at Langat 2 site office, the delegation was given an introduction and project briefing about the ongoing Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Phase 1). The capacity of this plant can produced up to 1130 Million Litre per Day (MLD) and it is part of the Langat 2 Water Supply Scheme. Upon completion, this project is set to function and provide sufficient treated water and to resolve the ongoing water crisis in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.


The visit concluded with a briefing and a tour at Sg. Buloh MRT station followed with a train ride through 12 stations between Sg. Buloh to Semantan. An average of 30,000 commuters use the MRT Sg. Buloh  Semantan line daily since it was introduced a month ago. A total of 1.2 million commuters have travelled on the route during the month-long free ride between 16 December last year to 16 January 2017.
