Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya, organised “Program Penanaman Pokok Malakoff-MPSJ” which took place at Taman Kejiranan Putra Bahagia 8/3K in Putra Heights on 6 October 2018. The programme, supported by Yayasan Hijau (YaHijau) and officiated by Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Azhar Yahaya, Secretary General, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), aimed at increasing the amount of green space per capita by 2020 under the Greener Kuala Lumpur/ Klang Valley Project.

More than 150 participants of all ages consisting of Malakoff employees and the residents of Taman Putra Bahagia gathered to plant 150 out of 500 saplings sponsored by Malakoff to create awareness on environmental conservation, in line with Malakoff’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment to the environment. 16 tree species were chosen such as Tamarindus indica (Tamarind), Annona muricata (Soursop), Laburnum x watereri (Golden Chain) and Maniltoa browneoides (Handkerchief tree).

Malakoff CEO, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said “We hope with this tree planting programme, a continuation of the Government’s ‘Campaign to Plant 26 Million Trees’ that aims to absorb 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, will assist the Government in managing the effects from climate change.”

Dato Seri Dr. Mohd. Azhar hoped that “more corporations will follow what Malakoff is undertaking in supporting our campaign for a greener and more sustainable environment.”
