Senai Airport Hits 3 Million Passengers

Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB), a Member of MMC Group celebrated its 3 millionth passenger in one single year, marking a new milestone in Senai International Airport’s history since its inception in 1974.

The 3 millionth passenger, Pn Umi Kalsom Roseli, a 32 - year old teacher from Yong Peng, arrived at Senai International Airport at 4:05 pm via AirAsia flight AK 6044 from Kuala Lumpur and was welcomed with a special celebration led by Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Chairman of Johor Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism Committee, Abdul Malik bin Hj Ismail, Director of Tourism Johor and Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of SATSSB.

Senai Airport has come a long way since its acquisition by SATSSB in 2003 when the airport was only handling 800 thousand over passengers. The year 2017 saw an increased in passengers by 10.6% from 2016 making a total of 3.1 million.

The growth was mostly driven by the introduction of the new routes by AirAsia to domestic sectors which include Tawau, Langkawi, Kuala Terengganu and additional flight frequencies to Subang by Malindo Air.

Senai International Airport is currently connected to 8 international destinations namely Macau, Guangzhou, Kolkata, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Jakarta, Surabaya, Seoul and 11 domestic destination.
