Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UTMSPACE. The MoU is a collaboration between UTMSPACE and Johor Port Berhad to develop and offer professional qualifications related to Ports and Logistics Management system.

The MoU was signed by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Johor Port and Professor Dr Azlan Ab Rahman, Director and Chief Executive Officer of UTMSPACE. Also present were Associate Professor Sr Dr Sarajul Fikri Mohamed, General Manager Centre for Professional Development and Industrial Project Development UTMSPACE, Rafidah Ali, Senior Manager of Johor Port Authority, senior management team from Johor Port and UTMSPACE.  

Under the MoU, there are three programmes offered which are Professional Certificate in Port Management, Professional Certificate in Logistics Management and Professional Master in Port Management. The programmes also provides industrial attachments that can help the participants to meet the evolving requirements of the industry.

“As the port operator of Johor Port, Johor Port Berhad has more than 40 years of experience in the Ports and Logistics industry and we are pleased to be able to extend our experience in this university-industry collaboration to elevate the professional capabilities of port workers. This collaboration also represents a paradigm shift in fulfilling the need for professional and skilled manpower in the Malaysian Ports and Logistics industry which is essential towards national development,” said Md Derick Basir, CEO of Johor Port.
