Northport Helps Employees Participate

in the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme

To support the Government efforts in achieving herd immunity through the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, has stepped in to help its employees to enrol voluntarily in the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

As of 24 March 2021, 82% of Northport employees have successfully registered for the vaccination programme through MySejahtera application and the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my with the assistance from respective divisions and departments’ Employee Relations representatives.

The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme was launched on 24 February 2021 which covers three phases of vaccination for the target groups. The nation’s frontliners especially those in the health sector, defence and security personnel became the first group to be vaccinated under the first phase which kicked off in February 2021 and is expected to continue until May 2021.

Meanwhile, the second phase which will begin from April until August 2021, will be targeting high-risk groups such as senior citizens and patients with chronic diseases. Thereafter, the third phase targeting categories other than the first and second phases will start from May 2021 until February 2022.

The development of COVID-19 vaccines by the world scientists is the most crucial global effort in combating the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that Northport's efforts in helping its employees to register for the vaccination programme will assist the Government’s efforts in implementing the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme and eventually bring this pandemic to an end.
