For the past few days, MMC Group of Companies have taken proactive actions extending assistance and supports to our employees and local communities affected by the floods. Efforts taken by the MMC Group of Companies were providing food and essential items such as packed meals, mineral water, dry food, hygiene kits and financial aid specifically to those who reside in badly affected areas in Selangor and Pahang.

Both Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) and Gas Malaysia Berhad have been assisting the temporary relief centres around Klang namely Kampung Delek, Kampung Rantau Panjang, Kampung Palembang, Kampung Batu Belah and Masjid Al-Faizin in Shah Alam by supplying food, blankets, pillows, towels, liquid soap, medicine and sanitary napkins to help addressing some of the flood victims’ basic needs. Northport has also provided assistance in kind to the Port Klang Health Office whose clinic has been severely affected by the floods.

In the spirit of solidarity, PTP has deployed 15 prime mover drivers to assist port operations at Northport to ensure minimal disruptions to container, cargo movement and its overall logistics supply chain.  A team from Penang Port Sdn Bhd has also extended their help with the cleaning works.  In addition, PTP and Johor Port Berhad teamed up with the Ministry of Transport Flood Relief Unit to provide cleaning assistance, including distributing basic hygiene kits at other affected flood areas in Selangor.

Meanwhile, Malakoff Corporation Berhad has contributed basic necessity items for employees, students and local communities taking temporary shelter at one of the local universities in Shah Alam.

MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd will also be providing their assistance to the residents within the catchment of Langat Water Treatment Plant in Hulu Langat.

Continuous heavy downpour since last Friday had caused rivers in the city to overflow, inundating many areas in Klang Valley and Pahang. Quick on the response was Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, where it has doubled up its services in the post-flood cleanups as the flood had turned many places muddy, clogging drains and scattered with rubbish and debris. Alam Flora was also involved in assisting its affected employees in Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Klang, Kuantan, Temerloh and Mentakab.

In view of the current situation, MMC Group of Companies have been diligently monitoring the effects of the flood in the surrounding areas and on alert to respond to any additional supports needed during this difficult time.
