MMC Corporation Berhad Holds Virtual Annual General Meeting

MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC) held its 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually for the first time to comply with the safety measures as recommended by the Bursa Malaysia in response to protect the health and safety of its shareholders during the Recovery Movement Control Order. The virtual AGM was broadcasted from MMC’s corporate office at Wisma Budiman, Kuala Lumpur.

Present at the broadcast venue during the AGM were MMC’s directors mainly Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Shamsul Azhar Abbas (Group Chairman), Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh (Group Managing Director), Dato’ Ir Jamaludin Osman and Sharifah Sofia Syed Mokhtar Shah as well as Group Chief Financial Officer, Group Company Secretary, Director of Group Treasury, Head of Group Corporate Planning, representatives from PricewaterhouseCoopers and scrutineers. The rest of the board members participated in the AGM via online.   

MMC’s shareholders were able to vote remotely using the Remote Participation and Voting facilities in the Lumi AGM server. This created an opportunity for shareholders to participate in the meeting regardless of their locations.

Holding virtual AGM will likely be the new normal in today’s business scenario as many PLCs had carried out their AGMs which took effect from 18 March 2020, during the Movement Control Order via virtual meeting.
