Northport Organises On-Site Covid-19 Screening Programme for All Employees

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised an on-site COVID-19 screening exercise for all its employees. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) under the Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP).

PSP is a COVID-19 screening programme for all employees working with companies that were allowed to operate during the Movement Control Order (MCO). The programme is aimed at helping the Government in controlling the spread of the deadly pandemic. Screenings under this programme are provided for free to all SOCSO contributors and the cost of the screening will be funded by SOCSO.

As ports are categorised under the nation’s essential services, Northport has been operating as usual since the implementation of MCO in March 2020. Northport has however, minimised the presence of its administrative employees in the office and has practised work from home working system.

In ensuring the safety and health of its employees who are working in the port premises, Northport has taken all necessary measures to curb the spreading of COVID-19 including body temperature screening at all Northport entry points, regular sanitisation works at common workplaces, consistent communication on COVID-19 awareness, advisory and updates as well as the provision of face masks, hand gloves and hand sanitisers to all operations employees.

With all the proactive measures in place and mandatory screening imposed on all employees, Northport will continue to operate its business in a safe working environment and free from the COVID-19 virus.
