Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its ensuing economic of uncertainty, many families may not have the financial capacity to provide school supplies for their children. To help prepare the underprivileged students for the new school year in 2021, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, has reached out to families with low household incomes in Pasir Gudang through its Back to School programme.
A total of 100 underprivileged students from SK Pasir Gudang 2 and SK Masai received financial aid and all-new essential school supplies consist of school bags, stationeries, notepads, water bottles, face masks and hand sanitisers.
The distribution was held on 23 February 2021, just in time for the first day of school scheduled in March. Both Jamilah Ayob, Assistant Principal for Student Affairs of SK Pasir Gudang 2 and Mohd Yurizani Che Husin, Assistant Principal for Student Affairs of SK Masai were present at the schools to receive the essential school supplies on behalf of the students.
Held annually, the Johor Port's Back to School programme has benefitted hundreds of underprivileged students. As a caring and responsible organisation, Johor Port will continue to serve and assist its community to build a better future especially for communities situated within its operations area.
