Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd (Tanjung Bruas Port), a member of MMC Group, launched its Port Development Plan at its port in Tanjung Kling, Melaka.

Officiated by Datuk Koh Chin, Chairman of Melaka Port Authority, the event was also attended by Md Derick Basir, Director of Tanjung Bruas Port, Ir Khairul Ezuan Harun, Chief Operating Officer of Kumpulan Melaka Berhad, Rosli Haji Osman, Director Department of Environment Melaka and Muhammad Amzar Abdul Manan from Customs Department.

Since taking over the operations in November 2016, Tanjung Bruas Port has been redeveloped in stages. Phase I of the port’s redevelopment was completed at a cost of more than RM10 million. Meanwhile, the development continues with piling works which marks Phase I(A)I of the Port Development Plan, involving the Wharf deck expansion by 50 metres on the edge of its existing ‘L shape’ jetty to become a linear berth to allow full optimisation of the berth length. The overall berth length will be increased to 225 metres from 175 metres.

The Port Development Plan has been established to improve the current port facilities via investment in modern equipment to enhance the operations. Scheduled to be completed in 2026, this new expansion will raise Tanjung Bruas Port’s capacity to 5.0 million Freight Weight Tonnes (FWT) a year from its current capacity of 1.2 million FWT.
