Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, joined forces with the Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department to conduct a complete sanitisation exercise within the port.

Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, Johor Port has secured the cooperation of the Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department to conduct a thorough sanitisation exercise on a bi-weekly basis. In addition, Johor Port has also increased the scope of works of their appointed cleaners to provide sanitisation services for all touch points such as staircase handrails, doorknobs, elevator buttons, office furniture, working surfaces and many more on hourly basis.

Since the breakout of COVID-19 pandemic, Johor Port has responded swiftly by implementing various precautionary measures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to keep everyone safe at the port. Frequent reminders on the SOPs are constantly conveyed to all employees and external stakeholders.

Some of the precautionary measures include implementing strict social and physical distancing at the workplace and common areas, conducting body temperature checks, provision of hand sanitisers as well as enforcement of a strict “No Mask, No Entry” rule.

Johor Port has also established its own “Guidelines on the COVID-19 Precautionary Measures”. Those who are caught not adhering to the guidelines will be asked to leave the port immediately and will be banned from entering the port again for a certain period of time.

As part of the nation’s essential services, Johor Port continues to operate at an optimum level to ensure that there is no disruption to the import, export and logistics activities. Employees who are directly involved in crucial terminal operations will only be deployed based on the daily operational requirements and to uphold strict safety standards, while the number of employees that are not directly involved in terminal operations will be minimised.

Johor Port will continue to comply strictly to the National Security Council’s required SOPs, to play its part in controlling the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the port is a safe workplace for its employees and the port users.
