Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group and Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Westports) jointly organised a town hall session with employees of its newly acquired Boustead Cruise Centre (BCC). The session was held at BCC’s office with the presence of 16 employees from various departments.

Northport was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, while Westports was represented by Vijaya Kumar, General Manager, Marketing and Conventional.

Northport and Westports, had in December 2019, established a 50:50 joint venture to acquire BCC. Subsequently in March 2021, Northport, Westports and Boustead Holdings Berhad executed a Share Sale and Purchase Agreement (SSPA) for the acquisition of the cruise centre. All conditions in the SSPA were fulfilled on 23 September 2021 and ownership of BCC was transferred to Northport and Westports on the same day.

This milestone is an unprecedented achievement as both port operators in Port Klang, Northport and Westports, joined forces to acquire the cruise centre with the intent of leveraging on each other’s expertise and network to reposition the cruise business and realise its true potential for the betterment of Port Klang and the Malaysian economy.

BCC is a dedicated cruise terminal in Port Klang, providing port facilities and services for cruise ships and navy vessels on a land area measuring 69.8-acre in Pulau Indah. It is currently the number one cruise terminal in Malaysia having recorded more than 400,000 passenger arrivals in a year during the pre-pandemic years.
