Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad), a member of MMC Group built a mini Water Treatment Plant at Klinik Desa Baroh Pial, Rantau Panjang, Kelantan as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility effort. The objective of this initiative aimed at providing up to two cubic metres per hour of treated water (enough to accommodate 220 people in a day) to the underprivileged community within the surrounding area.
Previously, the local community had to depend on water supply collected from the rainfall and underground water sources. For underground water source, they have to drill more than 120 feet underground well and install a simple water filter manually. Unfortunately, the supply of drinking water was inconsistent due to the poor installation and design of the water filtration system. With the new water filtration system provided by AIR Berhad, the community can now enjoy a clean and consistent water supply.
AIR Berhad defines sustainable development by providing better access to quality water supply and at the same time preserving the environment and contributing to social and economic development.
“We are proud with our effort to help the underprivileged local community by providing decentralised models of water treatment for safe and clean water supply. Water is one of the most vital and precious natural resources, and as such, at AIR Berhad we focused on providing a sustainable and efficient management of water resources,” said Adam Saffian Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of AIR Berhad.
