An Inside Scoop
Of Alam Flora’s
Fasiliti Inovasi
Kitar Semula (FIKS)
Fasiliti Inovasi Kitar Semula (FIKS) is one of Alam Flora’s recycling innovation facilities and a recycle education centre, for Malaysians to notably learn on recycling processes, the importance of waste recovery as well as waste treatment.
Introducing Fasiliti Inovasi Kitar Semula (FIKS)
FIKS is located in Jalan P5B, Presint 5, Putrajaya and has a land area of 22,858 meters and is equivalent to 5.65 acres. This recycling innovation facility is divided into two main areas: Recycling Learning Facility and Integrated Recycling Facility (IRF).
Promoting their 5R concept (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and recovery) to Malaysians, FIKS emphasises in helping reduce recyclable waste sent to landfills.
FIKS is one of the initiatives by Alam Flora in supporting and raising the awareness of recycling processes to the Malaysian general public. Educating various Malaysian communities about waste management and what we can do specifically in helping to create a sustainable future.
Making an impact on recycling, regardless how big or small.
One astonishing feature about the recycle education centre is that FIKS is significantly fully built with various recycled materials. Mostly consisting of used shipping containers, reusable steel containers, wooden pallets and oil drums, all being reused and recycled into furniture. Sufficiently, creating a physical environment that strategically educates the Malaysian public on the 5R concept.
So… What Exactly is Inside FIKS?
FIKS is created together with such beautiful green sceneries along with creative recyclable materials that have been refurbished and repainted in vibrant colours. The roofs of this recycling site are also entirely made from ASB Roofing Material, which has a sound-proof quality with an eco-green concept.
Representing the process of recycling materials in an exciting way and with a twist of being inventive, innovative and imaginative.
Browse through what FIKS has to offer and do have a look at the recycle education centre’s following specialised facilities: Hab Ilmu, 3R Butik, Buy Back Centre, Koc Ilmu, Koc Kreatif, 3R on Wheels, Integrated Recycling Facility (IRF) and Anaerobic Digester.
Ever wondered where exactly you can dispose your recyclable items?
The Buy Back Centre is a facility of FIKS that enables visitors in selling recyclable items and goods before it is being sent to the Integrated Recycling Facility (IRF). Visitors may conveniently earn forms of cash and reward points as an incentive method of encouraging the Malaysian public the benefits of trading in recyclable materials.
Recycled materials may be re-introduced into the Malaysian economy as new substances and products. This recycling buy back centre emphasises in materials that would become waste to be used and transformed as valuable resource.
Putting into practice FIKS’ core value of 5R (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and recovery), with making use of trading in recyclable goods.
The Buy Back Centre has a range of prices for specific recyclable items, giving the Malaysian public an insight of how trading in recyclable raw materials makes a difference to the environment.
Some examples of recyclable items and their trading-in prices are as follows: used cooking oils for RM 2.80/kg, aluminium tin for RM 2.20/kg, car batter for RM 1.00/kg, plastics for RM 0.50/kg, boxes for RM 0.45 and papers for RM 0.40/kg.
Buy Back Centre is the place to go in recognising the benefits of trading-in recyclable items and how exactly they may add value as well as be disposed.
3R on Wheels (3ROW) is practically similar to FIKS’ Buy Back Centre, just on wheels! 3ROW is a modified seven-tonne truck, equipped with a giant LCD screen, which is a mobile collection service to make it easier for the Malaysian public in sending their recycled items without having to go to one of the recycling centres such as the Buy Back Centre.
3ROW tends to focus in transporting to various locations such as schools, institutions of higher education, government and private offices, public areas, as well as selected Petronas petrol stations.
This mobile collection service easily accommodates for visitors in trading-in their recyclable items and good, being conveniently transportable from different locations and is easy access.
3ROW is the place to go in constantly being on-the-move with keeping track of your recyclable items and understanding how recycling processes can be 24/7!
