The celebration of the achievement was officiated by YB Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport Malaysia at Johor Port Container Terminal.  Presence during the event were YB Jimmy Puah Tse, EXCO, International Trade, Investment and Utilities/official representative of Chief Minister of Johor; Tuan Haji Rosnan Fathlal, Chairman of Johor Port Authority; YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of Johor Port/Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad; Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port and more than 300 guests from the port authority, various government agencies, shipping lines and cargo owners.

YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh in his speech said, “The achievement today can be attributed to several key factors which include overall improvement in the container handling productivity and equipment reliability such as the 94% effective Berth Utilisation rate and the 98% Truck Turnaround Time of below 60 minutes; and better communications and information sharing with our customers individually or through associations like Shipping Association Malaysia, Johor Freight Forwarders Association, Johor Port Shipping & Forwarding Association and Association of Malaysian Hauliers.”

Under the strategic partnership, Johor Port and Access World will cooperate to combine their resources in order to increase the volume of soft commodities trading in Johor. Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim said the new alliance will help to expand the port beyond a commodity trading hub for the southern region into an approved global delivery point.
